Electrical use of bathroom and room radiators
PURE ELECTRIC radiator or MIXED OPERATION:
- Over 35 different bathroom radiators suitable for purely electrical operation or mixed operation, especially for the transition period
- Over 15 different space heaters for electrical operation
- Filled ready to plug in and tested with thermal packages assembled by XIMAX
- Also available as individual parts for assembly by the customer
Many XIMAX bathroom and room radiators can be heated electrically, generally using heating elements that are screwed into the radiator connections. For physical reasons, temperatures tend to vary in both directions when using electrically heated radiators, and cold radiators can take 1 - 2 hours to heat up.
POSSIBILITY A: MIXED OPERATION
To heat rooms during the transitional seasons when wet central heating systems are not in use, e.g. spring, autumn or in the event of repairs. Winter = central heating, spring and autumn time = electric operation
In this scenario, a radiator which is connected to a wet system can also fitted with an electric heating element (using a T-piece).
POSSIBILITY B: ELECTRICAL-ONLY OPERATION
To heat rooms that have no heating or where it is not possible to connect a radiator to a wet system (e.g. rented accommodation), in old buildings, conservatories and second homes when no wet system is available.
An electric heating element is screwed into the radiator (always from the bottom and pointing up), the radiator is filled with a mixture of thermal fluid and water and then fitted with an overpressure valve at the top.
All that is required is a 240 volt socket which must be protected against splashing and located at least 60 cm from the nearest water source.
3 different types of heating elements are available, each with a 1.2 m long power cable and different wattage (300 watts / 600 watts / 900 watts / type 3D additional: 1200 watts).
TYPE 1
Heating element with integrated thermal fuse, thermoswitch and safety plug.
VDE-approved, protection rating IP-64.
TYPE 2
Heating element as per type 1 with additional on/off switch with indicator light.
VDE-approved, protection rating IP 54.
TYPE 3
Heating element as per type 1 but with integrated room thermostat and a whole host of additional functions.
Digital with LCD display, protection rating IPX4.
TYPE 3D
Heating element as per type 3 with integrated room thermostat but with a whole host of additional functions (keylock, temperature program, week setting, day / night function).
Digital with LCD display, protection rating IPX4.
XIMAX offers a total of 3 control units for heating element types 1 and 2 that support a range of heating levels.
CONTROL UNIT TYPE A
Time- and temperature-dependent room heating
Thermal timer (clock with room thermostat) with plug and socket. A different room temperature can be selected for a maximum of 3 time intervals per day. If the temperature drops below the set level, the heating element switches on. It switches off if this level is exceeded.
CONTROL UNIT TYPE B
Analogue temperature-dependent room heating with extra comfort
Infra-red receiver for direct wiring in combination with a battery-operated infra-red transmitter (range approx. 15 m) with a room thermostat that allows users to set the room temperature using analogue controls and press a button to select an alternative timed temperature to dry towels quickly (BOOST function).
CONTROL UNIT TYPE C
Digital temperature-dependent room heating for maximum comfort
Infra-red receiver for direct wiring in combination with a battery-operated infra-red transmitter (range approx. 15 m) with a room thermostat that can be used to select the room temperature digitally and set 3 programmable boost cycles in combination with a weekly cycle.
CONTROL UNIT TYPE FS
The digital, radio-controlled system with a socket for the heating element works in combination with a programmable transmitter that runs on two AA batteries. The transmitter has numerous functions such as daily and weekly programming, boost function and away-from-home programming. It also features a large and easy-to-read LCD display.
CONTROL UNIT TYPE FD
The digital, radio-controlled system for fixed wiring works with a programmable transmitter that runs on two AA batteries. The transmitter has numerous functions such as daily and weekly programming, boost function and away-from-home programming. It also features a large and easy-to-read LCD display.
Heating element type 3 features an integrated control unit for selecting temperature levels, times and fast-drying functions. This heating element does not contain any additional control unit. If an additional timer function is required for heating element type 3, we recommend using a conventional standard clock thermostat (suitable for any socket) that the heating element can be connected to.
